Indigenous Insights to Human Rights Project

Location:
Santa Cruz, Bolivia

Duration:
3 years

Date:
October 2008 – September 2011

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) has sponsored this project to support the protection of human rights in the indigenous communities of Bolivia. Our vision from the beginning to the final phases of our work in Bolivia has been to empower Indigenous youth in Bolivia to take a proactive role in recognizing and promoting indigenous human rights within the country. By engaging youth facilitators in a number of local communities, the project encourages individuals to fully participate both within their local community affairs as well as in the overall governance of Bolivia.
The project has been developed and implemented with the intension of inspiring collective action across Bolivia to protect and support the inherent human rights of indigenous peoples. From inception, it has been our hope that the Indigenous Insights to Human Rights Project will ultimately result in the increased protection of human rights and an improved quality of life in the indigenous communities of Bolivia.
Rediscovery Bolivia and Nur University, in partnership with Ghost River Rediscovery Society, have worked tirelessly between 2008 and 2011 to achieve the success and positive impact reported by our local partners.
