The Position

The Position        Resource Developer (1 full -time permanent)

Reports to         Director Of Operations

Closing Date     October 31, 2008

Position Summary

The Resource Development Staff is responsible for the “packaging” and marketing of Ghost River Rediscovery’s Operations Plan to local and international granting agencies (government, foundations) and corporations interested in addressing our specific needs. The role requires at least a general understanding of local and international development/indigenous issues and an ability to articulate Ghost River Rediscovery’s story. This role also supports the expansion of Ghost River Rediscovery’s professional profile by identifying and applying for select awards programs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of Ghost River Rediscovery’s Strategic Plan and Operations Plans
  • Research and networking to identify new opportunities among granting organizations or individuals
  • Manage engagement plan for high-potential opportunities, moving these from interest, to informed to engaged, including liaising with the International Services and Program Development departments to “package” components of Ghost River Rediscovery’s Operations Plan
  • Research, identify and manage the engagement plan for awards programs.
  • Writing and managing of grant, funding and award applications.
  • Create, design, publish and send publications such as Annual report, Newsletters, promotional information, program literature. 
  • Manage Ghost River Rediscovery’s corporate presentations and identify and follow-up on other opportunities for public speaking in the community.
  • Manage volunteers that will assist programs in obtaining optimum performance, projects, or fundraisers for Ghost River Rediscovery i.e. casino, golf tournament.

The Person

Education

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline

Experience

  • 3-5 years related communications, marketing and/or fundraising experience in a staff or volunteer capacity.
  • Understanding of non-profit sector requirements for accountability.
  • Understanding of international development industry an asset.
  • Connection to corporate and community funders an asset.
  • Previous volunteer experience with Ghost River Rediscovery an asset.
