The Routes to Rediscovery - Public Engagement Project

Ghost River Rediscovery’s Routes to Rediscovery - Public Engagement Project aims to raise awareness about local and international development issues and international cooperation opportunities among its participants and Canadian citizens.

The project brings international youth leaders together with youth leaders from across Canada. The group will travel throughout parts of Western Canada, being hosted by members of the communities they visit.  In each community, the group will strive to connect with the youth, leaders, Elders and general public, sharing and learning about community development, Indigenous issues, leadership, international cooperation, culture and Rediscovery.

Project Details

The project begins on June 14th, 2008 with a Team Building camp at the Ghost River Wilderness Area Base Camp.

Participants will then spend approximately seven weeks as a group journeying to Canadian communities, building leadership skills, experiencing the diversity of the country’s landscape and peoples, sharing culture and creatively exploring development issues affecting their own communities as well as the communities they visit.

Participants will engage the public through

  • cultural presentations
  • roundtable discussions and workshops
  • community service
  • leadership activities
  • traditional ceremonies

The project will conclude in Calgary with a 2 day debrief program abd closing ceremony at the Ghost River Rediscovery office on Aug 4, 2008.
